In addition to course work, 150 clinical hours of massage were required.

In December of 2005, Dave completed his Certification in Tui Na from The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA. This 300 hour program provided education in Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, Tai Ji, and QiGong along with Tui Na Massage. It also included 60 hours of clinical work.

Background

Dave began his journey as a massage therapist after leaving his career as a software engineer in late 2000. He attended the New England Academy of Therapeutic Sciences in Dublin, NH. After graduating in June of 2001, he went work at a chiropractor’s office here in Nashua and later maintained a private practice before moving to San Francisco.

While living and working in San Francisco, Dave attended the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA to study Tui Na. This program provided deeper training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tui Na Massage. Prior to returning to Nashua, Dave maintained his Tui Na practice at a community acupuncture clinic in San Francisco.

Dave's work as a massage therapist is in alignment with the ethically based philosophy of permaculture. With its principles rooted in the observation of natural patterns, permaculture holds the intent of designing systems to meet human needs in a more ecologically friendly way. As a permaculture designer and Tui Na practitioner Dave takes an integrated, holistic approach to providing health care.

Tui Na Sessions

Tui Na is traditional Chinese massage or bodywork that helps clients to alleviate pain and discomfort due to either injury, illness or physical or emotional stress. It aims to open up blockages to encourage energy flow and allow the body to repair and heal itself. Dave provides treatments of varying lengths of time from 30 to 90 minutes.

During his sessions, Dave takes into account health history, client preferences, current physical limitations and conditions to tailor an effective bodywork session. Integrating techniques from other modalities, such as NMT, Reiki and Myofascial Release, Dave’s treatments help relax the mind and revitalize the body.
