Human Design combines elements of Astrology, I Ching, Kabbalah, the Chakra System and Quantum Physics to provide insight into a person’s unique energetic blueprint. It was shared in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu (born Robert Allan Krakower) after what he described as a mystical experience in which this information was “downloaded” so he could share this knowledge with the world. The system is based on a Human Design Chart or Body Graph, which is calculated using your birth date, time, and location. This chart reveals key aspects of your energetic blueprint. A chart reading involves analyzing your BodyGraph and interprets various aspects of your design to help you understand how you best function in life, relationships, and decision-making.
The benefits of having a chart reading allows us to become more of who we are designed to be in this world which creates more ease, flow, and abundance! Applications can be used in many areas, such as career, relationships, family, and social settings. The foundation of Human Design is that we are all meant to flow as one in humanity, some with strengths, some with leadership skills and some to support, yet everything connects like a beautiful piece of machinery working in harmony. It is a context which provides validation and permission to be your most authentic self, unapologetically. Remember, every chart contains sources of conditioning, challenges and opportunities for growth. There are no good, bad, right or wrong charts. Understanding your design helps you manage your energy in sustainable ways and make decisions that are aligned with your purpose in this lifetime!
In Human Design, an Energy Type describes the unique way a person is designed to engage with the world and exchange energy with others. There are five Energy Types - Generator, Manifestor, Manifesting Generator, Projector and Reflector - each has a specific Strategy and Signature & Not-Self Themes that indicates when they are living in or out of alignment with their design. Living by your design, is the way to receive correct opportunities for you and get into alignment, helping you eliminate resistance and create a more flowing life by working with, not against, your natural design.
Strategy is not a philosophy or a belief system—it’s a mechanical process. It’s about how your energy interacts with the world and how you can align with the flow of life. When you follow your Strategy, you reduce resistance and open yourself up to the possibilities that are correct for you. It’s like having a user’s manual for your life. The beauty of Strategy is that it’s simple, yet profound. It’s not about trying to change who you are—it’s about aligning with who you are. It’s about trusting your Design and letting go of any need to control or force things. It’s about experimenting with your Strategy and seeing what happens. Human Design is not something to believe in—it’s something to live. When you begin to follow your Strategy, you start to see the mechanics of your life. You start to notice where you’ve been conditioned to act in ways that are not true to you. You start to feel the difference between resistance and flow. It’s a process of deconditioning, of shedding the layers of who you think you should be and discovering who you truly are. This process takes time, yet even small steps can make a big difference. The more you experiment with your Strategy, the more you align with your true nature. And the more you align with your true nature, the more you discover your unique purpose and potential.
Signature and Not-Self Themes are based on your Energy Type. Each of the five types has their own themes for their type. These will let you know when you are in or out of alignment with your Strategy and the simplest way to identify if you are using your Aura properly. These themes act as internal GPS signals, guiding you to use your unique Strategy (how you interact) to return to your true self. Your Signature Theme is the feeling of alignment with your true self. These are the positive feelings you experience when living authentically according to your Design and Strategy. While your Not-Self Theme is the emotional signpost you’re out of alignment, driven by conditioning rather than your innate Strategy, serving as a signal to course-correct. These are uncomfortable emotions that signal you're operating out of your authentic design, often driven by the mind's attempts to control or conform. Recognizing these themes helps you understand when you're operating from your unique design versus external influences.
Generators have an open and enveloping aura, drawing life toward them. They’re here to know themselves and to do what lights them up. They have unrelenting energy for what they are passionate about, their energy is magnetic, powerful, and sustainable which leads to satisfaction (Signature Theme). The opposite can be true if they are being taken advantage of or doing something that doesn’t excite them. When they’re stuck in obligations or saying “yes” to what doesn’t excite them, that same energy collapses into frustration (Not-Self Theme). For Generators, their Strategy to respond is about tuning into their Sacral energy. Generators are not here to initiate—they are here to respond to life. This could be a conversation, an opportunity, or even a feeling in their body. When they respond, live in the moment, they activate their life force energy and align with their true path. It’s a process of trust and patience, of allowing life to come to them.

Manifestors are the leaders & initiators of the world. They are here to start things, lead, and bring new ideas into motion. They are not meant to be reactive to external circumstances and their power lies in their ability to take independent action based on internal impulses rather than waiting for permission. They are here to understand their impact on others. Manifestors are not energy types, they don’t have a dedicated energy source. Because their energy impacts others deeply, Manifestors find peace (Signature Theme) when they inform before acting. For Manifestors, the Strategy to inform is about creating harmony. Manifestors are powerful and independent, but their energy can be disruptive if they don’t communicate. By informing, they let others know what they’re doing and why, which reduces fear, resistance and avoids the feeling of anger (Not-Self Theme) when others may block your initiatives. It’s not about asking for permission—it’s about creating transparency and ease.

Manifesting-Generators are a dynamic blend of Generator and Manifestor energy. Their Strategy is to Respond & Inform. They must understand that they respond first & foremost, as a Generator via the Sacral. Then taking inspired action, they refine and create once they have committed their energy via the Throat as a Manifestor by informing. MGs are naturally fast-moving, efficient, and often skip steps — which is part of their learning process. Through responding & informing, they will find satisfaction (Signature Theme) and avoid frustration (Not Self Theme). Projectors are the seers and guides of humanity. Acting as natural leaders & advisors, they are gifted with the ability to see deeply into others & the bigger picture. Their aura is focused and penetrating, allowing them to understand others and see how things can work more efficiently, this can be a strength & a challenge. The Strategy for Projectors is to Wait for the Invitation, which is all about recognition. Without invitation or recognition, their energy can feel unseen or unappreciated. This is crucial for optimal energy flow in order to find success (Signature Theme) & avoid bitterness (Not Self Theme). Projectors are not here to do—they are here to guide. But their guidance is only effective when it’s invited and recognized. When Projectors wait for the right invitations, they can step into their role as leaders and advisors to share their wisdom. It’s about quality, not quantity—waiting for the right opportunities rather than chasing after everything, discernment is key, because Projectors do best with rest, reflection, and intentional energy use.

Reflectors are the rarest of all types, about 1% of the population. They have no defined centers or consistent energy source in their chart, which means they have a unique "sampling aura" that allows them to temporarily absorb & mirror the energy & environment around them. Their gift is in their ability to sense the health & wellness of a community. For Reflectors, their Strategy is Waiting a lunar cycle, it’s all about gaining clarity & finding their own truth. Reflectors are deeply influenced by their environment and the people around them. Through waiting, they will find peace (Signature Theme) and avoid disappointment (Not Self Theme). It’s a process of observation and reflection, of allowing time to reveal the truth.

Jeanmarie’s professional journey centered in service, has included many roles ranging from an Early Childhood Educator, owned/operated Family Daycare Business, Psychiatric Triage Specialist, Hospital Unit Administrator, Cafe Operations Manager (grassroots start-up), alongside the soulful work of raising three children! She has also navigated profound personal challenges including elder caregiving, end of life, medical crises, and financial adversity —each one deepening her understanding of the human experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with a focus on Counseling Psychology from Lesley University and an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She has her Reiki Master Teacher Certification, trained with Karen Cerato, RMT in the traditional Usui lineage, offering gentle yet powerful energy healing that supports deep balance and transformation.
