Think You're Stuck with Psoriasis or Eczema? You Don’t Have to Be.

September 30, 2025

If you’ve ever hidden severely dried hands in meetings, avoided sandals because of cracked heels, or dreaded going to bed because the itching wouldn’t stop, I understand. I’ve changed blood-stained sheets night after night and dreaded summer because shorts revealed too much, always hunting for long skirts to cover my skin.

If you live with psoriasis or eczema, you know how challenging it can be. I lived with it for 20+ years.

Dermatologists – and I’ve been to a dozen or more – will tell you that the only option with psoriasis or eczema is to manage it with medication.

Because that’s the only way they know.

But there are other ways — not only to manage it, but to reverse it.

My 20+ Year Struggle & Turning Point

Shortly after my daughter was born in 2002, I noticed dry, scaly, itchy skin behind my ears and scalp. For years, I managed it with steroid creams.

In 2016, a stressful year added significant burden to my body, and the irritation spread. Deep cuts appeared on my left hand, then gradually moved to both calves, heels, back, and the bottoms of my feet. By 2023, it had become very painful and itchy, bleeding often. Winters were especially brutal. Steroids provided short-term relief, but after two decades, I was petrified it would continue progressing and develop into psoriatic arthritis.

That was my turning point. There had to be a better way.

In 2024, I began working with Deepal Parikh, an Allergy Release Technique Practitioner (A.R.T.®), Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), and Licensed RESTART® Instructor. Beyond her credentials, Deepal is one of the loveliest, most knowledgeable people I’ve met, which made the process feel hopeful.

With Deepal’s help, I finally understood that my immune system was hypersensitive — not because of allergies in the traditional sense, but because of food sensitivities, heavy metals, and other environmental factors. Every day triggers like dust, chemicals, and sugar were adding to the burden.

Although A.R.T. is often used for food and environmental allergies, for me, the breakthrough was realizing it could calm immune overactivity — the root driver of psoriasis and eczema.

A.R.T. Helped Calm My Autoimmune System

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder that speeds up the growth of skin cells and fuels chronic inflammation. Doctors prescribe medication because that’s what they’re trained to do. But long-term healing requires reducing the immune system’s burden.

That’s where A.R.T. made the difference. Using an FDA-approved frequency device and a simple acupressure point, A.R.T. identifies hidden stressors, which can include viruses, bacteria, mold, parasites, and chemicals that overwhelm the immune system. Gradually clearing specific stressors gave my immune system space to reset, allowing my skin to clear.

What’s Really Going On Beneath the Skin

Skin conditions are not topical. That’s the symptom – the root cause starts on the inside.

According to Dr. Mark Hyman, the top culprits of psoriasis include:

  1. Gluten sensitivities (not allergy)
  2. Yeast overgrowth in the gut
  3. Heavy metal exposure

Dr. Hyman recommends various strategies from removing food sensitivities and fixing your gut, to using the right supplements and practicing relaxation techniques – all easier said than done. Coming up with a specific plan would be challenging.

First, I eliminated gluten (really, none) for two years, which helped a bit at first, and I started detoxing lead out of my body, a long-term exposure since childhood that I uncovered with my naturopathic doctor through lab testing.

But then I found myself stuck. I was using steroid creams sparingly in the summer, but in the winter? It would rage.

My Personalized Strategy for Healing

Deepal personalized a plan for me. I haven’t used steroids in 16 months, with now clear skin.

Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Calm the Immune System with A.R.T.
Regular A.R.T. sessions identified and cleared hidden stressors, giving my overactive immune system the reset it needed.
  1. Repair the Gut (Even Without Symptoms)
Since 70–80% of the immune system lives in the gut, fasting 12–14 hours daily (mostly overnight) as well as various supplements she recommended, made a difference. Even without digestive issues.
  1. Lower Inflammation Through Food Choices
I cut gluten completely, minimized dairy, and focused on nutrient-dense meals: protein + vegetables with olive oil, fresh herbs, and apple cider vinegar. To my surprise, when the time was right, I reintroduced gluten and dairy for a few weeks with Deepal’s guidance and didn’t have any flares!
  1. Cut Sugar in All Its Forms
Not just refined sugar, but also “natural” options like honey and maple syrup. My treats now are 70% dark chocolate, sweet potatoes, or white potatoes. My go-to beverage is hot water with Baja salt.
  1. Support the Body with Supplements
I have a daily regimen, but vitamin D is most important for me. When sun exposure drops in New Hampshire winters, so do my vitamin D levels — and itchy skin returns.
  1. Shift Out of Stress Mode
I’ve always been achievement-driven, but I learned that healing can’t happen in a constant state of stress. EFT tapping, a daily gratitude journal, and positive connections have helped retrain my nervous system and calm my immune system.
  1. Breathe Deeply and Intentionally
I realized I’d been shallow breathing for years. Now, I focus on long, slow inhales and exhales — simple, but powerful for calming the body.
  1. Detox Pathogens with Biomagnetic Therapy
Regular sessions help address underlying viruses, bacteria, and toxins picked up along the way that keep the immune system taxed.

You Don’t Have to Live This Way Forever

Autoimmune conditions like psoriasis are rarely about one single cause. Healing is about peeling back the layers of what’s burdening your immune system. With the right support, it’s possible to calm the body and finally see lasting change.

If you suffer from psoriasis, eczema, or other skin conditions, Deepal can likely help take the mystery out of it. She’s not only skilled but also incredibly kind and approachable, which makes a big difference in your healing journey.
